This was a perfect beginner class for Heiukko and our participants. It was our first class we held at the shop. The results were phenomenal, everyone had fun and got to walk away with their own high-quality and well-designed birdhouse.

We covered the basic fundamentals of building and framing birdhouses such as alignment and symmetry. Our students were taught about machine safety and protocols before they were able to craft or work with any tools. Below you can see our students finishing up their wooden planks as they sand away the rough edges. We have a feeling the birds will appreciate this too!

Of course they were also taught how to design with our Heiukko Aesthetics. This is where alignment and symmetry come into play. This is also where we get to literally watch our design come together as we glue and tape the structure together. Wrapping it up with a good natural paint color and stain that will blend into the trees and provide the bird a relaxing spot to feed!
